Yoga Nidra is a guided practice of deep physical, mental and emotional relaxation and is accessible to everyone.
All that is required is to lie down, make sure you are comfortable and warm, and listen. The level of relaxation it creates often leads to sleep, but even so it is a rujevenating short sleep that allows the body and mind to let go and to heal, and some part of the consciousness is always in touch with the practice as we often awaken at the end. If you would like any additional guidance on this practice please do get in touch.
These practices should be done lying in the pose of savasana with a light cover, in a quiet place where you will not be disturbed for the length of the practice. For more information on yoga nidra, please see the book, Yoga Nidra by Swami Satyananda published by Yoga Publications Trust, India.
There is a lot of information available on yoga nidra these days, please be aware that not all the techniques follow the same principles or have the same source or aim. The practice has, in recent years, been taken in many different directions.
